GreenSpace
Offers health & wellbeing in nature groups that meet regularly on Brownsea Island.
These are relaxed & friendly sessions in a beautiful natural setting covering a range of topics and activities such as mindfulness, nature journaling, photography, wildlife-watching. Participants can choose to share their experiences in the group or sit quietly and enjoy the sessions.
There are three groups based on age:
GreenSpace: 21&Under is for people up to the age of 21 who meet monthly (Under 16s to be accompanied by a guardian).
GreenSpace: 22&Up is for people aged 22 & over who meet monthly (guardian/support worker to accompany vulnerable adults).
GreenSpace: Volunteers is for people who volunteer for Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Wild Brownsea Project
Available via social prescribing by a health professional or signposting by community groups (or by self-referral at our discretion).
Explorers
A practical work party group for people aged under 21 that complete a range of conservation activities & tasks on Brownsea Island..
The group meets twice monthly – participants may come to one or both sessions each month.
Under 16s must be accompanied by a guardian. The group offers a host of activities including practical conservation and habitat-based tasks, surveys & monitoring, community engagement as well as blended learning workshops and theory that can lead to our Introduction to Nature course, AQA qualifications, or even a Dorset Wildlife Trust Traineeship.
Help wildlife locally, learn about ecology & conservation, develop practical experience, enhance records of achievement, gain references, start moving towards your career, explore Brownsea Island & make friends with similar interests!
Marine Wardens
A group of people aged under 21 kayak to Brownsea Island for a range of nature-based activities.
Under 16s must be accompanied by a guardian/approved group leader. Activities include marine & shore-line litter-picks;
wildlife surveys & monitoring from the water; and helping to report antisocial behaviour on our shorelines.
Protect wildlife locally, learn about conservation & ecology, gain practical experience, bolster your record of achievement,
gain references, enjoy Brownsea Island from the water & on land & make friends who share your passion for the outdoors!
